Blake Kuwahara himself is an optometrist turned designer and named one of the 100 most important people in the eyewear industry by Brilliant Magazine. Mr. Kuwahara admits he has a bit of a “dual personality,” with classical on the inside, and rock and roll on the outside. These somewhat completing natures are reflected in his eyewear design. Blake Kuwahara eyewear consists of a frame within a frame. They are both “streamlined and modern, but soulful with an artisanal hand." The design takes familiar eye shapes but encapsulate them in a nontraditional surrounding shape, creating juxtaposition of shapes and colors creates a design tension that is fresh and unexpected.
