theo Lilly is a cateye/butterfly beauty, made in acetate/metal, and painted dark horn/gold shine. Lilly is from the theo Eyewear X Tim Van Steenbergen Rebels collection.
Decorative patterns are stripped away for the sake of pure geometric forms. The form is further emphasised by combining different materials such as wood, metal and leather. This way of flirting with different materials was a key component of the iconic chairs designed by celebrated modernists, such as the Wassily chair by Marcel Breuer or the school chair by Friso Kramer.
The eyewear designs, including theo Lilly, are based on 6 chairs from Tim’s own interior. In homage to these modernist heroes, each model bears the first name of the (furniture) designer. The glasses are understatedly simple, but exceptional in form. And just like in these iconic designs, two beautiful materials are combined: carefully selected coloured acetate – plain or printed – with matte or shiny metal.
Born on the vision to offer something other than the mainstream glasses, theo is unique in their inspirations and collaborations with renowned designers from different industries.
